June graduated from Jackson High School in 1943 where she was a straight A student and was 5th in her class out of 400. She went to Jackson Community College where she obtained her Associate's Degree at age 47. June was married to Robert whom she had met on a blind date while he was on leave during World War II. They corresponded through letters throughout the war, never losing touch. Once Bob was discharged from the Army Air Corps, they married in 1946. During her time at Gillettes Lake where she lived 58 years, she enjoyed water skiing, ice skating, and snowmobiling. She loved the Detroit Tigers and followed them for many years and loved college football. June was a teacher's aide, then decided to go back to college where she obtained her degree. She was hired by National Bank and became a supervisor in the bank card department. She retired for a year and then worked in administration at Meijer, finally retiring at 70 to take care of her mother.
The family would like to thank the wonderful aides at Legacy Assisted Living for their friendship, kindness and their love they showed June over the years. We would also like to personally thank Gentiva Hospice for helping June through the last week of her life.
June believes that charitable giving demonstrates our Christian principles. She devoted every year throughout the year to various charities, her favorites were the American Heart Association, Disabled American Veterans, and Christian organizations and Churches. If you wish to make a donation in June's memory to one of these organizations, it would be appreciated.
Private services will be held for the family.
