Julia Hogle (Wicklund)

Julia Wicklund Hogle passed away on December 24, 2023, at the age of 97. Julia was born on August 6, 1926, to Martin and Ruth Ralph in Spokane, Washington, where she grew up. She met her husband, Lloyd Wicklund, on the Lewis Army base in Tacoma, Washington. After the birth of their first three children, the couple moved to Michigan in 1950. Julia and Lloyd had four more children and lived the remainder of their lives in Jackson.

Julia was an accomplished artist and excellent cook. She was the head cook for St. John's Elementary School and prepared meals for many religious events. She also catered weddings and large parties for many years. Julia's family was the delight of her life. She loved celebrating all holidays and decorating for them, and she was happiest with her house full of family and friends cooking, laughing, and playing games.

Having shared her favorite recipes, especially pasties and golombkis, with her children and grandchildren, she has left behind treasures they will enjoy forever. Her other great joys were gardening and many years of camping with Lloyd, her children, and friends.

She is survived by children: Joy (John) Niles, Jill (Joseph) Massoglia, Martin (Ruby) Wicklund, Jean Brier, Thomas (Linda) Wicklund, and Timothy (Amy) Wicklund. There are 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son, Andrew Wicklund; granddaughter, Stephanie Wicklund; and second husband, Charles Hogle.

Julia is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Robert Pienta officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27 at Desnoyer Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
