Colby, Julia Rita
Sadowski (Logeman)
was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 16, 1926. She passed away peacefully on January 12, 2014. Julie is survived by her two sons: Robert and Kenneth (Sue) Logeman; four grandchildren: Adrienne (Jeff), Karen, Jake, Betsey; four great-grandchildren: Brenden, Rilynn, Claire, Delaney; two siblings: John Sadowski, Alice Swartout; and 7 step-children: Jan (Bob) James, James (JoAnn) Colby, David (Shirley) Colby, Cecelia (Ed) Brzys, Marie (Rick) Gougeon, Douglas (Jodi) Colby, and Elaine (Doug) Westhouse. Preceding her in death were her parents Alex and Frances Sadowski; husbands Edward Logeman and Roy Colby; siblings Helen (Vince) Randis, Edward Sadowski, Mary (Dorse) Molden; daughter-in-law Martha (Duffy) Logeman; granddaughter Alyssa Logeman.

Julie wore several hats during her lifetime, i.e., daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, sports fan, baker. She was a stay-at-home mom until her boys were in school. Even then, she only worked if she was able to be home by the time Bob and Ken returned from school. Ed and Julie enjoyed working in their garden, building their homes, and spending time with their sons and extended family. Julie wore all her 'hats' well, but the one she is most known for throughout the Jackson community is 'baker.' As a young mom, Julie worked at The Homemade Café. She spent many years employed at each of the following restaurants: The Brown Hut, Pete's, and Gilbert's. At each restaurant, her baked goods, desserts, and salad dressings were legendary. She knew her customers well and remembered which days of the week to have their favorites freshly-prepared and waiting.

Upon retirement, Julie and Roy began traveling across the country numerous times to visit her step-children and grandchildren and to check out Roy's passions—architectural structures and bridges.

Julie has enjoyed this last season of her life and filled her days riding her exercise bike, watching the birds and deer outside her window, and avidly following sports on television (usually wearing green!). Bob was her weekly Steak Eatery partner, and Ken reserved Saturday afternoons for watching football with Mom. Her favorite hours, however, were Sunday afternoons having family dinners, shopping at Meijer, and watching the creative antics of her precious great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Saturday from 10–10:30 AM.

Mom, your leaving makes us sad and leaves a big hole in our lives. The memory of your love and the laughter shared, however, have made each one of us better persons, and we thank you for that.
