Maurer, Joyce M.

of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the age of 83 years. Joyce was born on June 18, 1938 in Flint, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James P. Maurer; her father, Leo; mother, Marie; daughter, Katherine Mietelka; two infant children, John and Ann; and four siblings, James, Ruth, Richard and Jean. She is survived by sons, James the II (Kelly) of Pemberville, Ohio and Michael (Cathlene) of Parma, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Sarah (Kristopher), Paul, George (Breanna), Jimmy, Billy, Nick, Kyle (Ashley), Caytie, Emily (Drew), Peter (Katrina), Margaret (Thane), and Matthew; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Joyce was raised in Flint Michigan and attended Grand Blanc High School. She worked for Western Union Telegraph Company where she met her husband, James. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and would often utilize her skills to assist with church functions. She loved to travel and self-proclaimed herself 'granny on the road'. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the St. Mary Choir. Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Fr. Tim Nelson officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with a Rosary Service at 8:45 AM.
