Pickell (Lammers), Joyce
05/09/1951 - 6/23/2023

In loving memory of Joyce Pickell who passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023 with her family by her side. Joyce was born to Leo and Beulah Lammers in Jackson, Michigan and remained a lifelong resident.  She retired from a career that included leadership roles at EDSCHA and served on the Board of Directors for Midwest Federal Credit Union.

Joyce found joy, smiles and laughter in nearly all situations. Her attitude was contagious, and it was rare to walk away from her without a smile on your face and a little more warmth in your heart.

The peak of her smiles and laughter could be seen when in the company of loved ones. She made sure family events were a priority and never had a dull moment.  She certainly wouldn't hesitate to holler across the room to get someone's attention and made sure there was always some party atmosphere in a family party.  She was a beautiful soul who always found room in her heart to care for others and to share her message that they were important.

In addition to the joys of her family, Joyce enjoyed crocheting, keeping up with friends on Facebook and going to St. John's Church.  Her passion for life experiences took her on travels to the Ark and rural Kentucky, Branson, Pigeon Forge, a month long tour of the American West and many relaxing weekends with her husband Harold at their property "up North".  Most recently, a Florida Disney vacation with family was full of memory making and smiles despite her declining health.

There is no question she lived a full and amazing life and spent her last moments surrounded by her closest loved ones. We say goodbye for now, to the one who was proud to be called Nana.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Beulah Lammers; sister, Sharon Pickett; sisters in law, Elizabeth Johnston and Dorothy Lammers; and brothers in law, Keven and Allen Pickell.   Joyce is survived by her husband of 29 years, Harold Pickell; her siblings, Kathy (Jim) Desy and Leo Lammers; her 2 children, Christine (Don) Nichols, and Donnie (Sarah) Kemplin; her grandchildren, Travis Page, Aaron (Rachel) Kemplin, Joseph Kemplin, Candace (Kody) Thomas, Thomas Nichols, Sicily Kemplin and her 2 great grandchildren, "Sweet Ella" Kemplin and "Xavie" Xavier Page and brothers in law, James Pickett and Gale Pickell.
