Josephine A. Schafer

Josephine A. Schafer of Jackson passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 102 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur of 65 years of marriage, her parents Steve & Emma (Komora) Divish, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by brothers Stanley (Mary) and Robert (Nancy) Divish, sister Lorraine Drumheller and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine worked for 10 years for the State of Michigan Treasury Dept. in Lansing. She then came to Jackson and worked for Consumer Power Co. for 22 ½ years before retiring in 1976. She helped organize the AARP chapter #2956 and the Consumer Power Retirees Club named the, "Jacksonians". She enjoyed golf and was a member of Burr Oak and Hickory Hills golf courses. Women's Central District Golf and Antique Golf League. She was also a member of Junior Dorcas Society and Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 1:30 PM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Queen's Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
