Spitler, Joseph H.

of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Joe was married to his wife Alice for sixty five years. They had four sons, Mark, Shawn, Brian (Ellen), Colin and two grandchildren, Patrick and Riley.

Joe was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked for Consumers Power for 20 years. At the age of 47, Joe graduated from Spring Arbor University, and earned a Bachelors in Business Arts. He worked for the State of Michigan at the W.J. Maxey Facility, Boys Training School for 15 years. In his leisure time, Joe and Alice traveled all over the world. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed going to casinos. Joe was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish. He was a lifetime member of the Jackson Horseshoe Club. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame and Lumen Christi sports. He belonged to the Lumen Christi Titan Club. Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters, Jim, Patricia, Dennis and Kitty.

According to his wishes, Joe has been cremated. The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Reverend Father Paul Grehl from Lumen Christi High School being the celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lumen Christi High School.
