Reinker Jr, Joseph F.
Of Spring Arbor, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 26, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born January 2, 1927 in Dubuque, Iowa to Joseph F. and Mary M. (Schroeder) Reinker. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. On August 26, 1948 he married his "one and only girl" Arleen D. Jungk, together they shared over 67 years and six children. Joseph was a design engineer for Aeroquip and has a number of patents in the aerospace field. After retirement, he pursued his hobbies of woodworking, golf, bowling, and guiding his family of whom he was most proud. A lifetime Catholic and longtime member of St. Catherine Laboure, his faith was a living example to his family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Arleen; daughters Ruth Ann (Michael) Benner, and Marian (David) Lodes; sons Daniel (Pamela) Reinker, Matthew (Cheryl) Reinker, and Steven Reinker; and son-in-law Mitch Flatland; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister Edna (Ronald) Houselog; and many more members of his extended family.
He is preceded death by his parents; six sisters, Esther (Harold) Huber, Marie (Frederick) Skemp, Rose (William) Kingley, Jeanette (Marion) Arnold, Trudy (Earl) Ludovissy, and Kate (Leon)Pope; one brother Charles (Shirley) Reinker; his daughter, Linda Flatland, and two granddaughters Colleen Benner and Mary Lodes.
According to his wishes Joseph has been cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Concord at 11:00 AM with Father Denis Spitzley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Concord or a veteran organization of their choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Arbor Assisted Living for their loving care of Joe over these many years.
