Bazylewicz, Joseph
Of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the age of 95 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Theophil and Helen Bazylewicz; brothers Vincent, Stan and Bernard; and sisters Mary Bazylewicz, Helen Batterson, Theresa Ann Richardson and Rosalie Louise Koziol. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. Joe graduated from Jackson High School in 1939. In his early years he worked at the Jackson Country Club, Krogers, and Kelsey Hayes as a draftsman. He served in the Army during WWII in France and Germany. In 1963 Joe graduated from Michigan State University. He went on to become a teacher and an Assistant Professor at Lansing Community College where he worked for 28 years. Joe was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award for being an outstanding teacher. He was devoted to helping students with learning difficulties become successful at the college level. Upon his retirement he enjoyed hobbies of magic and book collecting. Joe especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Florida during the winter. Over 125 friends and relatives enjoyed his 90th birthday party at St. Joseph Hall.

Joe is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 29 from 4 to 7 PM with a Rosary Service at 7 PM.
The family will also receive friends at St. Joseph Oratory on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 10 to 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Brian Lenz officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Instead of flowers contributions to St. Joseph Oratory Children's Fund would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
