John Andrew West
was called home by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 24, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hardwick West; his devoted children, Margaret (Rohn) Millican of Indianapolis, Indiana, Amy Rodgers of Jackson, and David (Katy) West of Houston, Texas, and step-daughter Elizabeth (David) Sandy of Monroe, Michigan. He also has three grandsons who are the love of his life, Christopher Millican, Alexander Rodgers and John Parker (JP) West. John was an honorary father to many children whose children are honorary grandchildren. John is also survived by his only brother Robert (Mary) West of Duluth, Minnesota. He also has many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvar and Marie West.

John was a Vocational Education teacher at Jackson Public Schools. He served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves. He loved playing golf, helping others, but most of all going to Disney World and spending time with his family. In the past 8 years, John has battled Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and liver cancer in the last year and a half fighting the fight, never giving up and loving life. He will be missed by all those who knew him for his sense of humor.

John has been cremated. The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Sunday, September 27 from 5–8 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald as the celebrant.

The family suggests that, instead of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the West Family Endowment at Lumen Christi Catholic School or to St. Luke's Clinic.
