Phelps, John Paul
of Jackson, passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a short battle with cancer at the age of 34 years. Survived by his parents, John and Elizabeth Phelps; daughter, Adriana; sisters, Kate, Laura, and Allison Phelps; mother of his daughter, Lindsey Zebarah; and lots of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Veronica and Theron Phelps; Jack and Jean Davis; and his best friend, Sgt. Matthew Soper.
John was currently the Readiness NCO for the Michigan Army National Guard Unit #246. He loved to travel, run, was an avid U of M fan, but was especially devoted to his 6 month old daughter.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. John Whitlock officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 12:00-1:00 PM.
