Of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, age 77. He was preceded in death by parents Edward Joseph Owens and Minnie Delaney (Derusha), and stepson Raymond Abdul-Aziz Wesolowski. John is survived by his wife, Genevieve; son and daughter-in-law Keith and Karen Owens of Chaptico, MD; daughter and son-in-law Allison and Daniel Landry of Lansing, MI; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Julie Owens of Schererville, IN; stepchildren Beth (Sean) Campbell; Steve (Susan) Wesolowski; Susan Brown; Grandchildren John, James, and Cecilia Owens; Emma, Evan, and Ella Landry; Genevieve, Cassandra, and Anderson Owens; Step-grandchildren David, Tara, and Trevor Wesolowski; Jordan Brown; and step-great-grandchildren Janessa Bradley and Sophia Wolf.

John worked for 35 years and retired from Consumers Energy in Jackson, MI where he worked in the information technology department. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family (card games like Euchre, Bridge, and Spades were some favorites); hanging out with his friends at the Jackson Crossing; doing stock research at the library; and reading great books with a historical twist.

John, aka Dad, Pops, Grandpa, JJ…whatever we called you, know that you will be sadly missed.

Have a cheap beer, play some cards, don't take any wooden nickels…and wherever you are, may you always find your "Ungawa!"
