McCluskey, John T. "Jack"
12/13/1934 – 4/27/2024
Age 89, died under the caring hands of Henry Ford Hospice. He is survived by his children Tom (Beth) McCluskey, Maggie (Bobby) Machain, Karen (Misti French) McCluskey, and Betsy McCluskey; grandchildren Meg McCluskey and Allison McCluskey; sister-in-law Joanne Thomas; and brother Jimmy McCluskey. John was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jean (Thomas) McCluskey; his mother, Helen Dendor McCluskey; his father John (Hilda Kay); his sister Mary Ann (Richard) Cummings; and in-laws Anne (Jack) Ford and Delano Thomas.
John graduated from St. John's High School in 1952 followed by 2 years in the Army. After a 30+ year career with the Kroger Company, he returned to live in his hometown of Jackson, MI. An ardent supporter of education, he and Jean ensured their children had the opportunity to go to college and served as a founding member of the Jackson Legacy Scholarship. John had a deep devotion to his faith, demonstrated through active involvement going back to Vatican II and Fish through leading prayer groups at the Countryside Retirement Community.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be hosted by the family at Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30 pm.
As a life-long Roman Catholic, the Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Oratory at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024 preceded by visitation starting at 10:00 am. Fr. Tim Nelson will officiate at the Funeral Mass. A luncheon will follow at St. John the Evangelist Parish Hall.
