Brennan, John
of Jackson, passed away in his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jackson. He was 93. John was the son of Hugh F. and Eleanor Brennan. He was raised in Farmington with his six brothers and sisters. At 17, John enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944-1946. After his tour of duty, John returned to Farmington to finish high school and continue his education at General Motors Institute of Technology, now Kettering University. He met his beloved wife, Myra, whom he married in 1951. John enjoyed many careers during his lifetime. He worked for General Motors before returning to Jackson. He owned the Pure Oil gas station; Rives Eaton Auto Parts and Baker Auto Parts. He was also a truck driver and later started MCB Excavating. He also entered into the real estate business, first as a landlord, then later, as a buyer, renovating homes for resale. ¨Working keeps me young!¨ he would often say.
John loved cars, attending auctions, heavy vehicle equipment, and trains. Always a businessman, he loved finding bargains and making great deals. He was also a dedicated Republican and political activist. But his greatest joy was his family. He was a true Patriarch, committed to providing for his wife and his children. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and business associates.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Myra C. Brennan; his parents, Hubert and Eleanor Brennan; his brother, Martin; his sister, Christine Wolodzko; and his grandson, Walter Hobbins.
