Age 61, of Jackson passed away peacefully on August 24, 2012, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by beloved parents John and Mary Fiero, two brothers-in-law, Gary P. Overholser and Ronald K. Hurlburt and a very special Aunt Josephine Kozik. She is survived by 11 brothers and sisters Julia Hurlburt, John (Sue) Fiero, Frances Overholser, Edward Fiero, Andrea (Mike) Zakerski, Tom (Laure) Fiero, David (Diane) Fiero, Robert Fiero, Tim (Diana) Fiero, Sheila (Joe) Natter, Ken (Jennifer) Fiero, 23 nieces and nephews and 13 grand nieces and nephews.

Joey was a very kind, generous and loving person who enjoyed the days spent growing up at Portage Lake and the friendships she formed at work. She was certified as a CENA. She cherished spending time with her family and had a special way with children and senior citizens. Aunt Joey loved spoiling all of her nieces and nephews, including several precious godchildren. She was a devoted Catholic who told us frequently that she prayed for us each of every day. The family would like to thank the nursing staff, Dr. Murray, Dr. Saunders and the rest of the Critical Care Unit at Allegiance Hospital for the care and compassion they showed us and JoEllen during her final hours.

JoEllen is at Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 PM and Monday 2 to 8 PM. Rosary Monday at 7:00 PM.

We are blessed to have her in our family and take comfort in the knowledge that she will continue to watch over us from above. We love and miss you Joey.
