Hunt (Braun), Joanne Jean
Some people possess a light so radiant it not only touches those around them but creates a foundation for an entire village—a community they strengthen and nurture through all of life's challenges. Such was the essence of our beloved mother, Joanne Jean (Braun) Hunt, who entered eternal life with the Lord on January 15, 2025. Born on October 14, 1931, Joanne's life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion.
She leaves behind an ever-growing family who carry on her legacy, including 12 children: Sharon Mitchell (Ron, deceased), Michael Hunt (deceased), Kevin Hunt (deceased), Stephen Hunt (Lisa), Thomas Hunt (deceased) (Jeanmarie), Phillip Hunt (Anne), Timothy Hunt (deceased) (Patty), Paula Hunt Lefere (deceased), Christine Fitzgerald (Dave), Jeffrey Hunt, Amy Kaiser (Jeff), and Mary Nye (Jack). She was the proud grandmother of 29 grandchildren and the great-grandmother of 13.
Joanne spent most of her life in Jackson, Michigan, where she embraced her role as a homemaker and mother with tireless devotion. For 30 years, she also served as parish secretary and bookkeeper at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, dedicating countless hours to supporting her faith community far beyond her official duties. Her steadfast devotion to her faith and family shaped her life and inspired those around her. Joanne's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether by hosting family dinners, planning vacations, or celebrating milestones.
In her free time, she loved reading, journaling, and exploring new recipes to share with loved ones. Ever the planner, she poured her heart into organizing moments that became cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Harold Hunt; her parents, Herman and Anna Maria Braun; her sister, Julie Freiburg; and many other extended family members. Joanne's enduring legacy is her deep love of God and family, which continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Tyler Arens officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Church on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 AM with a Rosary Service at 9:45 AM.
