Sayers (Carter), Joan Carmen
Of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, age 91. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Sayers of 68 years, parents Adrian and Helen (Dunne) Carter, and grandson, Sean Marcus Reardon. Joan is survived by her son David of Clarklake, MI; daughter Ann of Tallahassee, FL; son and daughter-in-law Mark and MaryAnne (Johnson); son and daughter-in-law Steve and Vonni (Spencer) of Parma, MI; grand-daughters Emily (Steve) Gray, Lauren (Jeremy) Phillips, Helen (Mike) Vecchione, RaCelle Reardon-Peloso, and Anna Sayers; grand-sons David Samuel (Tamara) Sayers, Phillip (Heather Hawkins), Curt, and Adam (Katlyn) Sayers; 5 great grand-daughters Abigail, Skyler, Josie, Clara June and Amelia and 5 great grand-sons Ezekiel, Elijah, Micah, Lincoln and Easton.
Richard and Joan were married on September 10, 1949. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society. Joan enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and RV travel in the U.S. with her husband. They were snowbirds in Lady Lake, Florida for a decade.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating. Interment for Richard and Joan will follow on their wedding anniversary at St. John's Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
The family will receive friends at St. John's Church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday.
