Passed away peacefully surrounded by family February 1, 2015. She was the devoted wife of Kenneth, loving mother of Mary (Peter Morman), David(Stacie), Stephen, and Elisabeth (Blaise Blastos), loyal sister to Mary Jeanne Engle (Jerry), Wanda Bair, Kathy Shannon, and Anne Davidovicz (Tony Suchi), adoring grandmother to Gabriel, Victoria, Jack, Eliza, Aubrey, and Blaise, and dear aunt to nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Kenneth and parents Frank and Mary Davidovicz.
Joan was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan and graduated from the University of Detroit where she met Kenneth, with whom she raised their children in Birmingham, Michigan. Joan cherished her family and created a home where all felt welcomed and treasured. She was the consummate host for family holidays and gatherings. A devout Catholic, Joan believed in the power of prayer. She was the beloved proprietor of the Maples Motel in Sandusky, Ohio where many guests turned into life-long friends. She loved her pets and, consistent with her generous spirit, rescued many of them. Joan had a zest for life and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Joan's friend Janet Kalahar who provided great comfort during a difficult time.
Joan is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Friday, February 6 at 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 5:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, St. Joseph Parish, or Back To The Wild would be appreciated.
