Of Jackson passed away unexpectedly, March 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 3, 1935 in Jackson, she was the daughter of the late William and Lorraine Miller. She graduated from Jackson High and Henry Ford School of nursing, and was a registered nurse for 33 years. Joan was married to her husband Jerry for 46 years. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2004. Surviving to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Kim (Dan) Shaughnessy, Lisa (Steve) Eagle, Beth (Donna) Eagle, Amy (George Glass) Eagle; two grandchildren, Jacob (Karina) Shaughnessy, Devin (Kayla) Shaughnessy; three great grandchildren, Aili, Ellie and Jaxcon; brother in law, Tom (Jill) Eagle; sister in law, Marlene Eagle; special cousin, Ron (Judy) Fox; beloved neighbors of 51 years, the Bones family; and her grand-dog Chloe Mae.
She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading the books that her friend Karen Walters gave her. She enjoyed volunteering at the Summit Branch Friends of the Library, enjoyed working the funeral dinners for years at the St. John's Parish Center, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where a memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 10:30 AM with Father James Shaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Jackson District Library Summit Branch or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church would be appreciated.
