Alexander, Joan M.
Born in Fostoria, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 73 years after courageously fighting a short illness. Joan resided in both Jackson and Arcadia, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert; two daughters, Amy (Ken) Marek and Angela (Brian) Funk; grandchildren, Joseph (Michelle), Katharine, Broderick, and Aiden; two brothers, John (Linda) and Doug (Darla) Bugner; two sisters, Dorothy (Dan) Opperman and Suzanne Elter; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was a Lab Technician at Doctor's Hospital for 36 years. She was a longtime member and past president of St. Mary's Altar Society, the Ohio Genealogical Society, First Families of Ohio, and Civil War Families of Ohio. She also was a lifetime member, registrar, and past regent of Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and helping others. Joan was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
According to her wishes, Joan has been cremated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Fr. Tim Nelson officiating. Private inurnment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday, July 4 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM.
