Jerry Anne McCarthy, 75, of Liverpool, New York, passed away on December 26th, 2024 peacefully in her sleep.

Jerry was born September 15, 1949 in Syracuse, New York. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary Alice (Phelps) McCarthy. She grew-up on Tipperary Hill and attended St. Brigid's Elementary School, then attended St. Patrick High School. After moving to Niagara Falls she attended Madonna High School.

After she graduated from Madonna High School in 1967, she then went on to St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, earning a diploma in nursing.

Jerry worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for approximately 45 years with a total of 50 years in the nursing field. She blessed many departments with her nursing skills, but she spent the majority of her years in one day surgery. Jerry was a recipient of the Sr. Patricia Ann Mulherin OSF Award. She retired at age 60 and soon after worked part-time at an eye surgery center.

Jerry especially loved spending time with friends and family.  She was an avid fan cheering on SU basketball with season tickets at courtside. Syracuse University, Buffalo Bills, and the New York Yankees were all held close to her heart. In her younger years, she loved spending time with friends playing softball for St. Joe's Softball Team; she played first base. She enjoyed regular weekly golf tee times, traveling (NYC trips, Ireland, England, Hawaii, Caribbean Islands, Mardi Gras & all her nieces and nephews' homes), concerts, Bunko, Syracuse Winterfest Medallion Hunt, Coleman's Pub, getting her walks in, and a great board game!  She developed life-long relationships with grade school friends, nursing school peers, parishioners at her parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) and coworkers. She cherished these close friendships her entire life; they proved to be quite a blessing in her last few years!

Jerry was a parishioner of the Family of the Epiphany Catholic Church (St. Joseph the Worker and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church) in Liverpool, New York. She regularly volunteered to help with checking parishioners' blood pressures before or after Mass and collected the offertory. Jerry also volunteered with the local Honor Flight.

Jerry was always a "team player" focused on her close-knit group of coworkers, friends, and family. She tied her faith into everything as she chose to serve those she loved.

Remaining to cherish Jerry's memory are her siblings, Mary Gail (David) Goble, Mickie (John) Wodka,Teresa McCarthy, Jerry Pittaro; cousins, Kathleen (Mike) Albanese, Caitlin and Alyssa Albanese; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Heather) McCarthy, Jack (Mindy) McCarthy, Timothy (Laura) Drake, Nicole Pittaro, Donald Pittaro, Sean McCarthy, Kellie (Jeff) Dixon, Megan (Mike) Wion, Katie Staton, Maureen (John) Hoffman, Jennifer Wodka, William Wodka and many great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jerry in death are her parents, William J. and Mary Alice (Phelps) McCarthy; siblings, John (Linda Sargent) McCarthy, Thomas McCarthy, Maureen Pittaro and Kevin McCarthy; cousin Karen McCarthy and relatives Marilyn and Don McCarthy.
