Powers, Jean Ann (Papiersky)

was born August 17, 1927 and went home to Jesus January 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Thomas R. Powers, Sr. and her children, Timothy (Susan), Theodore (Bonnie), Terrence (Carrie), daughter Tammy (Michael) Swartz, and Todd (Karen) Powers, 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and soon to be 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father, Stanley A. and Anna M. Papiersky; by her brother Stanley A. Papiersky, Jr. and her sister Andrea Ciokajlo; by her son Thomas R. Powers, Jr. and by her grandson Nathan Thomas Swartz. Jean's life was full of laughter and love, love, love.

She was a Beautician for 40 years. Besides running her business and being a devoted Mother of 6, she still found time to be a servant and warrior for the most vulnerable in this world. She volunteered at Lyle Torrent Center and taught special needs religious education. She was one of the first pro life advocates to stand on the front lines and pray for the victims; both the moms and the unborn. There was a place for everyone on holidays at Tom and Jean's table. She inspired many with her open arms and heart. She was a most loving wife and mother and had a deep and special devotion to the Blessed Mother.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Sunday, January 7 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 8 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 AM (Prayer Service at Desnoyer Funeral Home at 9:30 AM) with Father James Shaver as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
