Cummings, Jean F.

of Jackson, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 84 years.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 45 years, Thomas M. Cummings.  Jean is survived by one daughter, Mary K. Howard; four sons, Gerald T. (Margie) Cummings, Paul Michael Cummings, Patrick T. (Rose) Cummings and Thomas F. (Karen) Cummings; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis (Bill) May; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard Cummings, Fr. Paul Cummings, Leo (Glenda) Cummings, Sister Kathleen Cummings OLV, Richard (Mary Ann) Cummings, Theresa Hansel and Rosemary Kite.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ace, Russell and Bill Arnett; one sister, Cora Cox; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Cummings, Matt Cummings, Jim Cummings and Rita Frybarger.

Jean came to Jackson as a young girl from Kentucky and began working in the food industry.  She was a cook at many area restaurants in Jackson, including Schulers, Fields and Jacobsons, where she retired after 20 years as a cook and baker of her delicious cheese bread and bake goods.  She was also a member of the VFW #823 Auxiliary for 40 years.

Jean is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday at
9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.  The Mass will be concelebrated by Father Timothy MacDonald and Father Paul Cummings.   Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A Scripture Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 PM.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association of Michigan or Queens Parish. .
