age 90, of Jackson, MI, passed away on December 22, 2015 at Allegiance Hospital with her loving family by her side. Jean was born on August 15, 1925, to the late Katherine and Harold Bonnett in Cheboygan, MI. She grew up on a dairy farm with her five siblings: Patricia Dombroski (Hank), Donna McDonald (Mac), Cassie Hudson (Ray), Elaine Gottschalk (John), and the late Joe Bonnett. Jean graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in a one room school house near Cheboygan, MI, and went on to teach Home Economics before taking time off to raise her family. Jean married her late husband, Dr. Joseph Blake, in 1950. They had six children: Debora Blake, the late Patricia Blake Stevens (2009), Susan Emmons (David), Catherine Blake (Ben), Jack Blake, and Peggy St. Germain. Jean worked closely with her husband in running his Veterinary Clinic in Jackson. After her family was grown, Jean worked as a secretary for Jackson Public Schools from where she retired. Jean enjoyed reading, gardening, travel, shopping, and hosting family gatherings. Jean loved her children, 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren endlessly. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was the center of her family in every way imaginable and will be forever cherished for her legacy of love and strength.
A gathering for the celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Desnoyer Funeral Home from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
