Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Saturday September 2, 2023, with her family and prayers at her side. Janice was 83 years of age and was born on March 26, 1940. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, David R. Barnes, her parents Philip K. Kreuer and Helen Kreuer, her brother Philip Kreuer, and cousin Sue Rowley.

Janice is survived by her 4 children, Julie Ann (Ron) Clark of Kalamazoo, Amy Sue (Jared) Hopkins of Jackson, Mike (Christa) Barnes of Jackson, and Mark Barnes of Jackson; 7 grandchildren, Emerie Clark, Abby, Isabelle, Kate Ambler, Hannah Barnes, Brooklyn Barnes, and Justin Barnes.

Janice began her working career at the Jackson Citizen Patriot where she met her true love, David, who eventually proposed to her during the Christmas Season. Over time, Janice became a "stay at home mom" who took care of all 4 of her children and eventually became very involved in their school activities. This included being a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, and Cub Scout leader.  With that not being enough, Jancie was an active member at St. Mary Star of the Sea while being devoted to her family.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 1:30 PM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Fr. Tyler Arens officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Jackson Animal Shelter.
