Griffin (Stark), Janet Elaine
89, of Jackson, MI died on November 1, 2025.
Janet was born in Jackson in 1936 to Martin and Beatrice Stark. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School. Janet worked at Consumers Power Company before devoting her life to her family and parish. She was treasurer for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Mary's and worked funeral lunches and bingo at St. John's for several years.
Janet and her husband Mick were enthusiastic gardeners and landscapers. Upon Mick's retirement they purchased a house with enough property to live out their years doing so. They traveled together throughout the world and spent a couple of months each winter in St. Pete's Beach Florida where they made new friends from different parts of the US and Canada, especially Gerry and Benita Murphy. They were always happy back home working outside around the yard waiting on the tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, etc.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Michael J. (Mick) Griffin and her son Martin Griffin. She is survived by her children: Margaret (Jim) Wilcox, John (Barbara), Michael (Shawn Driscoll), Robert, Gerald (Lisa Nocerini), and Maureen (Andrew Ballantyne). She is also survived by her grandchildren Edwin, Molly (John Berdysz), Brittany (Chris Randall), Audrey (Peter) Bisbee, Mallory, Aimee (Spencer Pageau), Conor, and Caitlin, and her great grandchildren Penelope and Beatrice Bisbee.
Additionally, she is survived by Shirley Molloy, Tomas Sambaer, and the Griffins and Molloys of Ennis Ireland. A special thank you to Kathy Teichert of St. Pete's Beach for always being there for them while in Florida. Janet was cared for by her children Bob and Maureen, and her niece Kathy Walsh, for which we are eternally grateful.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, November 7 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at St. John's Church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Luke's Clinic or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
