She is survived by daughters Mary Duffy, Cathy Thornton and Sarah Lockwood (Matt) all of Jackson, MI. Janet was a life-long member of St. Mary Star of the Sea and graduated from St. Mary's in 1954. She received her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Ann Arbor, MI in 1957. She worked at the old Mercy Hospital initially and was at Jackson Medical Care for 23 years. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary daily to Mary. Janet's best attributes were her thirst for knowledge and her zest for life. Whether it was the first time she met you or had known you all of your life she held captivating conversations around the kitchen table. Janet wanted all of her children and grandchildren to be the best person that they could be. She not only wanted to know what we all were doing in our lives, but also where we were going. She may not have physically traveled with her family but she has been to Australia, South America, Europe, Asia and all over the US and Canada. One of her personal highlights was traveling with her son Paul to England and Scotland.
The Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 1, 2020. Only immediate family will attend. Mass will be streamed online through St. Mary Star of the Sea on Facebook. There will be no viewing. The burial will follow mass at St. Johns Cemetery.
