McQuillan, Jane Frances
Age 97, passed away peacefully into the Loving Arms of Jesus on April 12, 2025, at Summit Park Assisted Living Facility. She now joyously reunites with her beloved, immediate family and many of her extended family members.
Jane was born in Detroit, Michigan, the fifth of seven children to Edmund and Helen (nee White) McQuillan. She was raised in Jackson and graduated from St. John High School in 1945. She was employed by Consumers Power for 42 years. Her dedication and strong work ethic was only matched by her propensity to dress fashionably.
Jane was very proud of her Irish heritage and her Catholic faith. She prayed the rosary regularly and was a devotee of the Novena. Many Catholic icons adorned her home, which provided her continuous comfort and sanctuary. Jane embraced traditional values and conservative ideals, and was unapologetic about expressing these sentiments.
Throughout her adult life, Jane appreciated the simple pleasures of a good, home-cooked meal, drinking a cup of hot, black coffee, and watching a Hallmark movie or the Home Shopping Network. In her younger days, Jane enjoyed basking in the sunshine at Clark Lake, where she occasionally took her nieces and nephews to swim. She also enjoyed patronizing the Eagles Nest Restaurant with her long-time companion, Dick Sullivan (now deceased), along with her close friends.
Jane is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses; brothers; Edmund "Tiny" (Marguerite), Thomas (killed in the Philippines in 1945, WWII), James (Anne), Dr. F. Patrick (Mary Ann); sisters; Mary Helen "Hobby" (Bruce) Yocum, and Monica "Dody" (Paul) Manser. Jane is also preceded in death by nephews; Bruce (Tim) Yocum and Michael McQuillan; niece; Patricia (nee McQuillan) Kelly; great-niece, Jennifer (nee Kelly) Hagen; nephew-in-laws, Stephen Bentschneider and Michael Tylutki.
Jane's family wishes to thank the staff at Summit Park for their patience, kindness, and loving care. Additional appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care during Jane's final days. Sincere gratitude to Outreach Eucharistic Minister, Gail Goble, from Queen of the Immaculate Medal Church, who humbly and graciously provided religious support and friendship to Jane for the past several years. Also, to Cindy Clark who assisted Jane with weekly household duties, which led to a deep and lasting friendship.
According to Jane's wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 120 E. Wesley St. in Jackson with Father Timothy Nelson officiating. A private inurnment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Jane's family will receive friends at St. Mary's Church on Thursday, May 29 from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church or St. Mary's School.
