Blissick, James F. "Jim"
Of Hanover, passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Josephine "Josie"; three children, Julie (Andy) Sinkovitz; Jacquie Blissick (Collier Smyth), and James J. Blissick; three grandchildren, Jacob (Hannah) Sinkovitz; Ann Marie (Jeremy) Abbott; and Andrea (Trent) Brisboe; five great-grandchildren, Leo, Odellia, and Cyrus Sinkovitz and Carson and Colt Abbott; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Blissick and his sister, Camille Cummings.
Jim worked hard throughout his life was an engineer for over 30 years, primarily in tool and die, while working up the chain into management. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He could often be found in the garage tinkering and woodworking. Jim prided himself on maintaining the vegetable garden and beautiful yard. He enjoyed playing poker and bridge with friends, bowling, playing softball, watching western, nature shows, and John Wayne movies on TV. Jim was an active member of several men's social clubs, including the Lions Club. He was a talented accordion and saxophone player and preferred to listen to Polish music. Jim and Josie shared fond memories in their local travels as well as their adventure to Canada. He was a very social guy who could not sit still and family oriented. Jim will be missed by all who knew him!
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church, Clarklake, with Father Thomas Helfrich, O.S.F.S. officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.
