Delaney, James K.
Of Jackson, formerly of Ann Arbor, passed away under the loving care of his family and the amazing care givers at Brightside Assisted Living on Friday, October 3, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane; his two sons, Aleksis (Annah) Delaney and Colin Delaney; grandson Aiden; mother Bernice Delaney; A special thank you to his brothers John, Brian (Meg) and Timothy Delaney and his sister in law Neeta (Ken) Delaney and nephews Noah (Anne Marie Strassel) Delaney, Adam Delaney, and Robert Delaney. Jim was preceded in death by his father Carl Delaney.
He was the Vice President of Human Resources for many years at Jacobson's and later became the Human Resource Director for the Jackson District Library. He was a Governor Appointed State of Michigan Certificate of Need Commissioner, Chairman of the State of Michigan Certificate of Need Commission Advisory Committee for Open Heart Surgery Standards, Board President/Director with Community Health Partners of Jackson (an employer formed PPO), Director of the Michigan Purchasers Health Alliance (MichPHA), Board President and Director of South Central Michigan Health Care Coalition, and President of the Board, Vice President, Board Member at Family Service and Children's Aid. Jim had a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and was an avid painter. He enjoyed listening to music and was a huge Michigan Fan.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd., Jackson with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at Queen's Church on Saturday October 18 from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
