Canny, James Patrick

Age 80 of Jackson, MI passed away July 26 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 56 years, Carol (nee Joyce), his loving children Jim (Maggie) of Troy, MI; Colleen of Chicago, IL; Maureen Maley (Pat) of Chicago IL; and Patrick (Kristi) of Noblesville, IN. Adoring grandchildren Jack and Abby Canny, Colin Maley, and Erin and Sean Canny. Dear sisters Claire Shepp (Dale) of Scottsdale, AZ; Ellen Werner of Westlake, OH; Irene Lange of Avon, OH; and Susan Canny of Westlake, OH; brother-in-law Michael Joyce of Lincoln, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Patrick Canny of Lakewood, OH. He was in the first graduating class of St. Edward's High School in Lakewood, OH in 1953. Jim graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1957, attended Case Western Reserve Law School, and served two years in the United States Army. Jim was a member of Queen's Parish, the Monogram Club of Notre Dame, the Notre Dame Club of Jackson, and an active member of the YMCA. Jim's greatest joy was spending time with his family and treasured grandchildren. Our family would like to thank Dr. Beredo, Dr. DeSouza, and Julia Malfeld for their loving and compassionate care of Jim.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 29 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 606 S. Wisner Street from 11:30 AM until the Mass of the Christian Burial at 1:00 PM. A private interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Reverend Wayne Watts will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to Queen's Parish, the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, or Lumen Christi High School.
