James Franklin Bryan, 77, of Jackson Michigan passed away on July 9th, 2026 at the University of Michigan Medical Center. As a lifelong Michigan State fan, we are sure this upset him. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan and his two daughters Whitney and Lauren. As well as his siblings Sheila Sisk, Cindy Hammond, Diane (Patrick) Hill, David (Theresa) Bryan, Robin Bryan, and Janet (Brian) Finch, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel (Kirkpatrick) Bryan, brother, John Jr, brothers-in-law, Robert Sisk and Larry Hammond, as well as aunts and uncles.
Jim graduated from East Jackson High School in 1967, then was drafted and deployed to Germany during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he met the love of his life in 1969 while cruising the ave. They were married in 1974 and welcomed their daughters in 1985 and 1987. Jim was “Golden Boy” during his time at Goodyear and “Animal” at Aeroquip (Eaton) where he retired in 2014.
Jim loved farming and his cows, NASCAR races (specifically ones at Bristol), watching the birds (he loved the humming birds the most), a good western (anything John Wayne and Clint Eastwood), and his cat, Alice Cooper. His greatest loves were his girls who are going to miss him so dearly.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:30 PM and at the Church on Wednesday, July 15 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Contributions to the Lingap Children’s Foundation or your favorite animal shelter in Jim’s memory would be appreciated.
