Nowak (Bochenek), Irene
Age 94, of Jackson, passed away July 2, 2020 at the Ganton Countryside Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon of 62 years and their son Bernard. Lee and Irene were married November 19, 1949. Irene and Lee were co-founders of Condex Heat Transfer Corporation. She was the past President of the Jackson Tuesday Musicale, past speaker at the National Federation of Music Clubs, an active member of the Jackson Music Chorale, and the Junior Dorcas Society. She shared her passion for authentic Polish foods often bringing her homemade golumbkis (Gołąbki, Stuffed Cabbage) for friends and family at the Clark Lake Yacht Club. Irene's strong Catholic faith was mirrored in her life of giving to the community and speaking her faith.
Irene is survived by five sons, Bruce (Sharon), Brian (Lisa), Brent (Robin), Blair (Kristen), and Barry (Lisa) and 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed singing, gardening, sailing, the arts, and spending time with her family.
The Catholic Mass Burial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Queen of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. Tim MacDonald officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Broadcast begins at 10:20 a.m. at www.queenschurch.com and on Facebook at 'Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church'.
Contributions in her memory are directed to Jackson Music Chorale.
