Howard Kermit Mead

On September 16th, 2023, we lost our son, brother and father to a myriad of health issues that afflicted him most his life. Howard was preceded in death by his loving mother Sissy Mead.  He is remembered and loved by his Father Charlie Mead, his sister and brother-in-law JessieRaye and Steve Ansley, his brother and sister-in-law Dean and Amber Mead and the loves of his life his sons Xander and Logan Mead and his daughter Zoe Mead.  Howard's pride and affection for his children was always evident and even expressed wonder at how he managed to have such great kids!

Anyone who met Howard was immediately captivated by his infectious smile and the mischievous sparkle in those big blue eyes.  Howard had a remarkable intellect and a sharp and witty sense of humor and was also a maven of classic movie quotes!  Give him any real-life situation he would come up with an appropriate movie scene and crack everyone up with the quote from that scene.  I'm pretty sure he could recite the entire script from the Big Lebowsky by heart!

Howard was an accomplished & skilled carpenter and cabinetmaker and took great pride in a job well done.  He thrived at solving difficult problems and was a perfectionist when it came to any project.  He was especially proud of his collections of tools and treated them like an artisan and he respected them as proven by the fact he still had all ten fingers!  Howard also loved to cook, not so much because he liked to eat (which he did) but because he loved the satisfied and justified praise from anyone who was lucky enough to sample his cuisine! Ask anyone who tasted his fresh pico de gallo, hot or mild he always prepared both, they will attest to his accomplishments in the kitchen!

Like everyone Howard had his demons and he spent most of his life fighting these self-deprecating afflictions but now he is at peace, with his loving Mother.  The Dude Abides!

We would like all of Howard's family and friends to join us on Sunday September 24th at the Cascades Manor House, 1970 Kibby Road from 1:00 – 3:00 to celebrate his life.  A deli bar, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.  A cash bar will also be available.  If you have pictures of Howard, know a song he really dug or any memorable anecdotes about his life would be appreciated, an open mic will be available to share your memories!

To ease the burden on his kids we are asking for donations to defray the cost of the memorial.  A collection jar will be available at the event donations can also be sent to Xander Mead, 6200 N. Dearing Rd., Parma, MI 49269. If you are using a check, make it payable to Xander Mead.
