Shumard, Helen Clark
A life long resident of Jackson, passed away at Vista Grande Villa on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 one day before her 96th birthday. She is survived by three sons; Doug (Barbara), Tom (Lesley), Todd (Debbie) and two daughters; Cathy (Mike) Moorehead and Jo Anne (Stuart) Ferderer; one sister; Mary (Ervin) Smith, twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her sons Loren and Dennis; her parents, Alfred C. Clark and Ethel Bowyer Clark, her two brothers, James and Alfred Clark, and four sisters; Donna, Anna May, Angela, and Constance.
Helen was a longtime member of Queens Parish, Queens Mothers Club, Foote Hospital Volunteer, as well as a volunteer at the Interfaith Shelter. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved and was loved by many friends in the Jackson community including those at Vista Grande Villa.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 711 N. Francis Street, Jackson on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Father James Shaver officiating. Helen's body will be donated to the University of Michigan Medical School following the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 12 Noon to 1PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Jackson Interfaith Shelter or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
