Helen Joan Rhodes passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at HFA Hospice Home.
Helen was born Aug. 20, 1941 in Jackson, Mich. Daughter of Frank & Helen Orlowski. She married her high school sweetheart, Don Rhodes, on April 27th 1963 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and celebrated 56 years of marriage until her passing.
She was a dedicated spouse, mother & grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, animals, music & going to Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Helen worked as an office manager for an accounting firm for 45 years before retiring at 62 years old.
Helen is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Craig (Debbie) Rhodes, Cheryl (Bill) Kirchmeier, David (Lisa); eight grandchildren, Kevin (Michaela), Katy (Ben),Kyle, Josh, Cassie, Chloe, Olivia and Avery; sister Delores (Jim) Hawley; sister-in-law Mary Orlowski.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Frank Orlowski; siblings, Ed Orlowski, Jeff Orlowski, Stan Orlowski, Ben Orlowski, Theresa Wilmoth. The family would like to thank the staff at HFA Hospice Home for their compassionate care towards the end of Helen's life after an eight year battle with Alzheimer's.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. They will also receive friends at church, before Mass, from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 4 at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson as the Celebrant.
