Cockburn (Konopka), Helen Irene—
Age 86 years, passed away at Allegiance Hospital on September 14, 2009 surrounded by her loved ones. Daughter of Victor and Sophia Konopka. Former hostess at The Regent Café and a long time employee at The Viking Steak House. Survived by sons, J. Collier (Linda), Roderick (Lynn); loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Megan, Jessica, Andrew, and Aaron. Preceded in death by husband, James; brothers, Edwin and Ernest Konopka. Also survived by loving sister-in-law, Marguerite Konopka; special nephew and nieces Thomas Konopka (Godson), Anne Lewis, and Mary Kania and their families. Also her special friend Theresa Johns. A special thanks to the caring staff at DaVita Dialysis for the past nine years of loving care. Helen is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where services will be held on Thursday, September 17th at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Queens of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. The Reverend Jeffrey Poll will be the celebrant.
The family will receive friends at Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary Service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
