Smith, Harold
Age 73, of Williamston, Michigan, passed away on July 31, 2025. He was born on May 1, 1952, in Jackson, MI, to Willie and Stella (Rives) Smith.
After graduating from Parkside High School in 1970, Harold served as a paratrooper in the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions, as well as the Michigan National Guard. He went on to work for the United States Postal Service in Jackson, where he worked until his retirement in 2013.
Harold enjoyed volunteering with Center Stage Jackson where he forged many strong and lasting friendships. In his spare time, Harold could be found cheering on the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan, but his favorite teams were those on which his grandchildren were playing.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife LeeAnn, daughters Loryn and Liz, and grandsons August, Dorian, and Gavin. He is also remembered by his siblings Willie (Linda,) James (Sandi,) Katrine, and Karen, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends who were as close as family. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Stella Smith.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 3 PM, at Gene Davis & Sons Banquet Center 3575 Francis St, Jackson, MI, with a dinner to follow. Harold will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in his name to the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
