Hunt, Harold R.
Hunt, Harold R.
You could not find a more loving example of husband, father, grandfather, and son. Harold R. Hunt went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 18, 2017 surrounded by those who loved him. He will always be remembered for his greatest strength of loving and giving to others. He had an inexhaustible capacity to take care of others before himself, and he left behind a legacy of children and grandchildren who have been taught to do the same.
He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 66 years, Joanne. Surviving are 8 of his 12 children: Sharon Mitchell, Stephen (Lisa), Thomas (Jeanmarie), Phillip (Anne), Patti Hunt, Christine (David) Fitzgerald, Jeffrey, Mary (Jack) Nye, and Amy (Jeff) Kaiser; 30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four children: Michael, Kevin, Timothy, Paula, son-in-law Ron Mitchell, parents Clarence and Mae Hunt, and Herman and Anna Braun.
During his high school career, Hal won a state medal for Jackson High in swimming and enjoyed the water his entire life. Hal worked 40+ years for Insurance Services Offices (ISO) of Michigan. His passion was spending time with his family. He loved to learn about the world and traveling. However, there was nothing more special to him than going camping with his family along the shores of Lake Michigan. Hal gave of himself not only to his family but to the community in many ways through his volunteer work with Boy Scouts, coaching, mentoring, and more. He was an excellent example of a father and taught dignity and respect for others through not only his words, but his actions as well. He will be remembered and remain in our hearts forever.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Fr. Tim Nelson and Fr. Jim Shaver as the celebrants. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
