Grant was preceded in death by his parents, Lina and Walter Bolden; his brother Roger Bolden; and his aunts and uncles.

Born on December 15, 1941, in Petoskey, Michigan, Grant often reminisced about his childhood adventures swimming in Lake Michigan and fishing in the rivers. He had a keen interest in shop class and drafting, graduating from Petoskey High School in 1960. He worked in construction across northern Michigan, Traverse City, and the Upper Peninsula before becoming an airport design engineer, overseeing numerous construction projects throughout the state. In 1979, he moved from Hancock to Bath, Michigan, where he lived for 45 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Grant enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and archery. He loved watching wildlife, the Detroit Tigers, and football. He built his own barn/workshop and was always engaged in home improvement projects, often assisting friends and family with theirs. A talented woodworker, Grant cherished spending time with his family and friends, his pets, reading, solving crossword puzzles, finding bargains at auctions, listening to classic country music, and gardening. Known for his kindness and sense of humor, he made friends wherever he went, including at Summit Park Assisted Living, where he was well-loved.

The family extends their gratitude to the caring staff at Summit Park and Henry Ford Hospice.

A gathering to honor Grant's life will be held in the spring in Petoskey. In accordance with his family's wishes, cremation has taken place.
