Lamoreaux, Gladys Jessie (Weiman)
of Spring Arbor, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the age of 89 years. She was born on October 17, 1927 to Claude and Gertrude (Denzer) Weiman in Gladwin, Michigan. She was their second daughter, joining Charlotte. Wesley, Elry, Harold, Robert, and John were her brothers
She married Charles Lee Lamoreaux December 7, 1947 and they lived in Parma, Michigan for the next 52 years until his passing in 1999. They were members of the Jackson Free Methodist Church, and later attended the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church.
Gladys enjoyed needlecrafts and would often make family and friends quilts, knit sweaters, or crocheted baby layettes. Even when she was no longer able to hold a needle, her nieces would still gather at "Aunt Penny's" to work on projects and gather her insight.
She loved being with her family. For years, she would have a house full of guests from out of town. She anticipated those visits like a child looks forward to Christmas. She loved having big family meals, none of which was complete without her chocolate pie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wesley, Harold, and Elry, and her husband, Lee. She is survived by her sister Charlotte and brothers Robert (Emmadelle) Weiman and John (Betty) Weiman, sisters-in-law Ruth Beulah Weiman, Dorothy Weiman, Mollie Lamoreaux, and Mary Kief. She will be missed greatly by her children: Carl (Beverley) Lamoreaux, Edward (Linda) Lamoreaux, and Lois (John) Hochstetler; her grandchildren: Heather (Brent) Summers, ShiAnne (Matthew) Shively, Amy (Daniel) Wise, Nicolas Lamoreaux, Jonathan Hochstetler, Aaron (Taryn) Lamoreaux, Jolene (Daniel) Hardesty, Jessica (Rob) Ketola, and Jim Hochstetler; and her great-grandchildren: Madelynn and Cameron Shively, Hope, Heidi, and Brevan Summers, Abigail, Miriam, and Rebekah Lamoreaux, Vance Wise, Shawn Lamoreaux, and Evelyn and Ryleigh Hardesty.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 7 in the chapel at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church at 1:00 PM with Dr. Darold Hill and Rev. Mark VanValin officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Cemetery in Parma, Michigan.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday, March 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and also at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, before the service, from Noon to 1:00 PM.
