SMITH, GERALD J.

Of Pleasant Lake passed away peacefully at Allegiance Health on Friday, April 19, 2013, one day after his 82nd birthday with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Muck) who he married on June 20, 1953, two daughters and one son: Cheryl (Alan) Phillips of Jackson, Daniel (Teresa) Smith of Pleasant Lake and Marcia (Earl) Smith-June of Jackson. Also survived by six grandchildren, Jenny (Brandon) Kish, Danielle Smith, Jamie Smith, Elisabeth (Teddy) Clark, Nathan Phillips and Tiffany Smith. He was also looking forward to the birth of his first great grandchild. Two sisters and three brothers also survive; Frances Osterberg, Helene Marshall, Tom, Lawrence and George Smith as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gerald was an excellent and faithful husband to his wife and a good example to his children.

The many Smoky Mountain trips were always something he and Gloria looked forward to. He certainly will be missed by his family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father James Shaver officiating. Private interment will take place at Harrington Cemetery in Henrietta Township.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday from 1:30 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary service at 2:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at St. John's Church on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers contributions to St. John's Church or to the Henrietta Township Fireman's Association would be appreciated.
