RAND, GERALD F. "JERRY"
February 27, 1946 – July 5, 2017

A man of courage, wit and compassion passed away at Allegiance Hospice Home after saying his loving farewells to his beloved family and friends. Born in Jackson to Paul and Marcella Rand, Jerry graduated from St. John's High school before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. After returning, he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Jackson City Police Department, where he worked his way to the rank of Detective. He served his community on the force for 22 years and as president of the Jackson Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #70. He currently serves on the Jackson Parks and Recreation Board.

Jerry is survived by Jo Ann, his beloved wife of nearly 48 years, his devoted son and daughter-in-law Gerald F. Rand Jr "Frank" and Jennifer Schaub Rand, along with their amazing children who loved their Grandpa with all their hearts: Jerry, Julie, Jamie and Joel. Jerry will be missed beyond words by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Jan Riede, his partner on the police force and best friend Tom (Karen) Hutton, his loving sister Mary (Rik) Bergmann, and brother Kevin Rand (Tom Wisneski), his loving sister-in-law Pat Rand widow of his brother Greg, special nieces Stephanie Solce and Melanie Esland and a special nephew Steve Rand. Jerry also leaves behind brothers and sisters Paul, Mike (Mary), Kathy (Kent) Pittelkow, Joe (Kristin) Patricia , and Anna. Jerry and Jo were blessed with a host of friends that enriched their lives and have held a place in their hearts for many years. People like Nancy Wilson and her deceased husband Tom, Howard and Rosemary Tanner, John and Jean Schaub, Corky Fillmore, Mike Tash, Diane Weems, and Jan and Jim Thomas, both deceased. He has been blessed with so many wonderful people in his life that we can't list them all here, but we are forever grateful for your friendship.

Per Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Desnoyer Funeral Home. Visitation will also take place at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church on Monday, July 10, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, prior to Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Father Tim Nelson will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Jackson Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #70.
