Gerald W. Gauthier

Of Rives Junction, MI passed away early Monday morning July 20, 2015, at the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey at the age of 87 years. The son of Wilfred and Eva (Mongrain) Gauthier. He married Jean Gallaway on July 12, 1952 in Ann Arbor, MI. They recently celebrated their 63th wedding anniversary. Gerald was a U.S. Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was employed with Consumers Energy until his retirement in 1987.

He is survived by his loving wife Jean, his children Ken (Tina) Gauthier of Morris, IL, Janet (Roger) Burley of Jackson, Jackie (Chuck) Garrison, of Jackson, Karen (Jeff) Lin of Anaheim, CA, Sharon (Rob Bendik, Fiance) Mills of Goodyear, AZ, Lorrie Bedore, of Rives Jct, Lynn Taylor of Ocala, FL, also Jim Mills of Jackson, Rick Bedore of Jackson and his beloved "Bratt" Cat, 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Olivine, George, Romeo, Valmore, Victor, Anais, Therese, Edith and their spouses.

He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, where he participated in the Latin Mass, and Knights of Columbus. He ministered at the Jackson prison for several years, volunteered for Catholic Charities and student mentored at St. Mary's Grade School.

His family was his greatest joy. He also enjoyed traveling and various hobbies.

Mr. Gauthier is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Friday, July 24th from 5 to 8 PM with a Rosary Service at 7 PM. The family will also receive friends at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Jackson on Saturday, July 25th from 9:30 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chelsea. Fr. Joseph Rinaldo, SdC will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
