Newman, Gerada V.

of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the age of 74, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jackson on May 19, 1939. She is survived by two sons, Joseph H. (Ellen) Newman and Daniel J. (Karen) Newman; one daughter, Amy Meek; eight grandchildren, Adam Freck, Allison Meek, Andrew Newman, Jayme Newman, Kalie Newman, Baylie Newman, Blake Newman and Brooke Newman; two great granddaughters, Aleaha & Kaylee; one brother, James (Linda) Tarpley; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Joseph Newman on January 2, 2000.

Gerada was retired from Aeroquip Corp. after many years of service. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her family.

According to her wishes, Mrs. Newman has been cremated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father James Shaver will be the celebrant at the Mass. Private interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association.
