Passed away Sunday October 6 after a brief illness. George was born in 1956, one of 7 children of Emil and Jane Svinicki.

He received his BS Engineering from U of M specializing in Complete Site/Civil and Building Design of Commercial and Industrial projects such as Factories, Retail, Gas Stations, Churches, Restaurants, Nursing Homes, Office Buildings and Med Clinics. George's professional life centered around changing the landscape of the Jackson community with his building designs. He operated Svinicki Associates, an Architectural and Civil/Structural Engineering practice for 30 years, a firm his father started in 1953. This year marked its 60th Anniversary. In 2005 he earned Professional Engineering licenses in numerous states and cataloged over 100 commercial, industrial, and ecclesiastical designs to sell on-line through 'Plans to Go'.

George served as the design professional on the City of Jackson's Building Code Board of Appeals and the Governor appointed State of Michigan's Elevator Safety Administrative Safety Board as the Architectural Engineer since 2001.

He was a ASCE and NCEES National council member, master mechanic, community volunteer and mentor. A lifelong learner, he recently passed the LSAT, paving the way for admittance to Law School. George loved Clark Lake. He was an original member of the Spirit Trail Committee, served on the Raft O Rama Committee and participated in the annual parade of floats, winning 'The Cup' numerous times for his engineering marvels. George enjoyed boating, Great Lakes fishing, scuba diving, music, travel and entertaining at the lake. He was generous and kind, had a great sense of humor and real zeal for life. He will be dearly missed by many lifelong friends.

Surviving are his wife Kathleen Kelleher, daughter Amy (Jeff Flashinski, step-son Brian Kelleher (Colleen) brothers Andrew (Julie), Jerome (Thea) and John, sisters Jane, Kristine and Karen (Mike), beloved nieces and nephews: Emma, Sophie, Veronica, Nancy, Christopher, Alexander, and Nicholas.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday October 11, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. with a Scripture Service at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 12, at 11:00 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church, Clark Lake. Father Tom Helfrich, O.S.F.S. will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Memorials can be made to Clark Lake Community Foundation, St. Rita's, or a charity of your choice, in memory of George.
