Sewell, George Herbert

of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann; son, Christopher (Misty) Sewell; grandchildren, Evan Finch and Destiny and Sondra Sewell; and sisters, Linda (Tom) Ridgway and Ann (Bruce) Deverman. Preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Sewell Finch and his parents, George and Emily Sewell.

He was born in Jackson, Michigan on April 17, 1942. George graduated from Jackson High School and Western Michigan University. He retired from the State of Michigan with 33 years of service. George enjoyed playing golf, bicycling, traveling, fishing, history, and spending time with his family. He served for many years on the JDL, CAA, and Salvation Army boards. George was a loving and supportive husband and father.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald as the Celebrant. A private interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:15 to 11:00 AM.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Queen's Church or the Jackson District Library.
