PARKINSON, GEORGE D.
Of Jackson passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Friday, April 26, 2013 age 79 years. Survived by five children; Stephen, Kenneth (Amy), Glenn (Patty), David and Leanne (Jeff) Jones. Grandchildren; Lisa, Nicole, Andrew Parkinson, Jeremy, Adam, Sarah Jones, Glenn Jr. And Anna Parkinson. Also survived by three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Pildis, Joan O'Hara, Ruth Parkinson. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Catherine, mother and father Marie and Renee and his brother Robert.
George was in the U.S. Navy Honors Band during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Consumers Energy after 42 years of service. He was a longtime active member of St. John's Church where he was involved in the Music Ministry for over 30 years and he was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council #8392. George enjoyed volunteering at Allegiance Health and was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM with Father James Shaver officiating.
George was loved and cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers contributions to St. John's Church or Allegiance Hospice would be appreciated.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 8 PM with a Rosary service at 6:30 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Tuesday from 10 to 10:30 AM.
