Joined his eternal family on Thursday, July 20, 2017. George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Patricia (Chamberlin) North, his son George North IV (Kelly) of Jackson, MI, and his grandchildren George "Quintin" North V and Veronica North both of Jackson, MI. His nephew Philip L. "Flip" Reynolds, Jr. (Linda), his first cousins, Father Richard Kropf, Michael Foley, Tom North (Nancy), and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Maurice "Tucker" and Mary "Mar" Winifred (Foley) North, his brother, Radcliffe North, and his sisters Grazia (North) Hardie, Joanne (North) Mennis, and Mary (North) Reynolds.
Mory was a part of the 1938 graduating class of St. Mary Star of the Sea High School in Jackson, MI. Afterwards, he went to Michigan Technical University in Houghton, MI. Mory left college to enlist and serve in WWII where he proudly served in the Army Infantry. He was awarded a purple heart for wounds sustained during a battle in France but returned to service and served till the end of the war receiving an honorable discharge in December 1945. After the war, Mory returned to college at Michigan Technological University, graduating in 1947 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mory, along with his brother, Raddy, began working and eventually taking over the family business, North Construction Company, founded in 1885. The company is largely responsible for much of the Jackson skyline. In 1959, they built and managed one of the first Holiday Inns in the US. After his retirement at the sale of the Holiday Inn, Mory, enjoyed spending his time with his family taking vacations to his beloved Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, and trips to Chicago and New York City. Mory's grandchildren were a sense of delight for him right to the end. Mory's well-built and extraordinary example leaves a legacy of hard work that will live on in the hearts of his son, George North IV and grandchildren, George North V and Veronica North and for many generations to come.
