HORNING, GEORGE W.

Of Jackson passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 age 89 years with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 60 years RoseMary (Green) Horning. His children; Katherine (Mike) Brieger, Carolyn (Cliff) Braun, Lorraine (Dale) Kuhl and Andrew Horning. He had numerous grand children and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary (Jim) Gough. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Humphrey. George served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during World War II with Military Honors. He was employed with the State of Michigan, Michigan State Industries, and retired with 42 years of service. George enjoyed traveling, especially to Palm Springs, CA. Mr. Horning is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 1:00 PM. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Rev. James Shaver officiating.

The family extends their appreciation to those who cared for George at Vista Grand Villa Health Care Center, Trellis Gardens Assisted Living, Ganton's Legacy Assisted Living and Great Lakes Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, a donation/memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Great Lakes Hospice, or please do a kind deed for someone in need.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 11AM to 12:30 PM.
